PPM, Pictorial Process Mapping, Templates

We are looking into internal development of manufacturing process control procedures. Priority to distilling the multi-page "Word" documents into a concise "picture flow". There are several current software applications available but are very restrictive in format/style. Has anyone successfully developed such a practice/template internally that suits their own vision? We've used Word and electronic images, but the variance in each document format does not facilitate training across several facilities. We assume such a project would take some time to develop. Has anyone developed such a standard format for their own use in creation of PPMs and training of others in their creation (asie from the "canned" software?)

Some pretty good examples if you go to Google and search for "Pictorial Work Instructions". Hundreds of them...

Processes vary so much, you may find it hard to template a "one size fits all"...but at least you'll have a few hundred examples to choose from to find one that may work for all of your processes.

HTH,

Thanks much for your reply! Wehave found (too many) PPM formats! Hoping to find a possible software that might facilitate some internal standardization of the PPM template, along with the features of "embedded' docs, drawings, videos, etc. Many are the so called 'enterprise" systems that come complete with "consultants"!

FWIW, I would stick with PPT or Word rather than spend on a different software program.

Standardization should be imposed by an organization's internal discipline, not imposed by a limitation of a software package.

Word might be a good software to create a base doc, but it does not have the utilities for a larger operation. "Tiering" of supporting procedure references, CAD drawings or even video clips do not seem to be easily embedded in a server based work instruction. (Unless you've found THAT answer!) Please suggest.....

Sorta why I listed Powerpoint first.

"Insert" toolbar > Insert Video...

Like any software, there is some learning involved...but it works well if you choose to use it...

You can insert launch links, or the video itself...
