ASTM A6 Material Standard - Section Nominal Sizes

I'm hoping this is considered the right sub thread for this type of question.

I'm doing some research for my current company and its all realated to the standard C channel we purchase. The ASTM A6 standard is pretty clear except when defining what the section nominal sizes are.

Would that be considered the width of the piece, so if the Height was 6" (A dim in A6 standard) if the width was 1.5" to 3" the tolerance would be held to +/- 1/16" but if the width was over 14" the height tolerance would be +3/16 - 1/8?

Just trying to ensure I'm understanding it correctly.
