ISO 9001 Gap analysis for a small company?

J

Japio

Greetings :bigwave:,

My first post and immediately a question for you guys.
I"m working on a school project at a company to find out what is needed to get certified for ISO 9001. I found a huge pile of documents for my research (i am new to ISO 9001) on this forum and i'm gratefull for that.

The company digitised documents and stores the content in a database if needed. Their are currently 16 employees.

I want to find out in what position the current QMS is, so actions could be taken. A way that i found for this is a Gap Analysis as described in several threads. Does anyone have any practical tips for using the gap analysis (implementing ISO) in a small company or a Dutch translation of it. Or maybe even alternatives?

Thanks,

Gap analysis

Dear Japio,

Attached you can find a gap analysis report in Dutch.
For a small company as you described you have to interprete several items in a more generic way I think.

Look what you can do with it to improve your environment in the direction of ISO 9001.

Lots of success,

Best regards,

Antoine

It's great to see that you're searching through all of the information here.

You're on the right track, Japio. A Gap Analysis is a great tool to compare what is currently implemented at the company against the requirements of the standard.

Unfortunately, due to copyright laws, we are unable to provide you with a copy of the standard. Perhaps you find a local company that is registered to ISO 9001 and "borrow" their copy. Introduce yourself to their quality person and/or president/owner and explain the project. They may be more than happy to help you and maybe even provide you some practical experience! :agree1:

Let us know how it goes!

Thanks for the info guys! That gap analysis was just the thing i was looking for.

I recently got myself a copy of a book which explains the ISO 9001 with practical examples which should help me understand things even better.
