Do you mean before training to select candidates or after training verify competence? Just some quick thoughts.
Before: can they read, write, think, follow directions, have a positive attitude, can work well with others, form a conclusion based on fatual data.
After: Provide them with an audit scope and follow through with them in developing and audit paln, executing the audit, review the results, follow up with the auditees to evaluate auditor methods and questions. Review any non-conformances, verify finding, etc.
I am sure others will chime in with valuable criteria.

Before, I Am Having 3 New Auditors Trained And Am Having To Proceed With A Tight Dead Line. So I Am Looking For Some Sort Of Pre-test To See Exactly How Much They Understand The Iso System.

How much do you understand the requirements?

Base any exam on what you think they need to know.

You need to understand that passing an exam does not indicate competency, it just shows you remember something or how to jump through a hoop.

Have you defined what competency is?

Have you determined how competency can be achieved?

Have you identified how to evaluate competency?

Have you ever seen ISO 19011? I would recommend Section 7 and Table 3

Make sure they have a thick skin and will also be allowed to dedicate the time needed to complete the audits.

It sounds like you are short on time. Is there a local university that offers Internal Audit Training that would satisfy both the competency and timing requirements?

A local university to meet the competency requirement? Apparently you know less than TERESA about the subject.

You don't "learn" competency, it has to be acquired through experience. You especially aren't going to become a competent auditor by taking a college course....Sheeesh

I May Have Been A Bit Vague And Do Appologize. I Am The Iso Coordinator For Our Memphis Site. Corporate Is Ready To Send Down Their Lead Auditor To Train 3 Additional Auditors. His Auditor Training Usually Requires 2-1/2 - 3 Days, Unfortunately This Time Has To Be Cut To 1 Day. He Suggested This Web Site As A Means To See If Some Sort Of Pre-auditor Test Was Available To See How Much The Potential Auditors Already Understood About The Iso System.
