Format for presenting capability study results?

I recently completed a capability study on 3 machines running the exact same part. Does anyone have any formats for presenting the results?

Thanks:confused:

What format is it in now? What do you intend to do with it? The nature of the information you include, and how it's presented, should be guided by your knowledge of the needs of the people who will use the report.

I'd show the control charts, with the spec limits dashed (or otherwise coded so they aren't confused with the control limits) and include a text box with the current Cp and/or Cpk values.

All data is currently in Minitab, which is my first time using. I will be presenting the data to upper management where only one is familiar with SPC and Cpk. Hopefully the end result will be machine improvements, reduce scrap, and improve tooling usage.

Currently, production is changing tooling after 15,000 parts are produced regardless of the quality (as this is their comfort zone).

With all of this in mind, I do not want to lose the 6 people who have no SPC knowledge.

The data you have is a form of evidence in support of a hypothesis, and the hypothesis is, "Our current state needs to be improved." Do a simple narrative report that explains in plain English what you did, why you did it, what the results were, what the results mean, and what you can do to improve things. Be prepared to present the data in graphic form if necessary. There's not much to be gained by showing charts to people who won't know what they're looking at, but there is much to be gained by showing that you do, and you have a plan to make things better. Do quantification in terms of money to be saved, wherever possible--it's the best way to get their attention.

Jim that was brilliant!
Kim as Jim rightly said quantify the things. management always sees the things thru money. Extract the information from the data what you collected and just present them the extract and keep the other documents to support your extract.

If you never show senior management SPC, there will always be only one who is familiar with SPC.

No one suggested that senior management should never be shown SPC. But it makes no sense to present data in a form you're sure won't be understood. There certainly appears to be a need for more statistical awareness among the OP's managers, but there's a time and a place for everything. If at the moment, they just need to know what time it is, showing them a detailed drawing of the inner workings of a clock isn't going to help.
