Aspects & Impacts - Adhesives and Chemicals Stored in Nonflammable Safety Cabinets

We have adhesives and chemicals as aspects. They are stored in inflammable safety cabinets. Would these cabinets be regarded as aspects too?

I don't know much about this subject, but I don know that if your cabinets are inflammable, you have a problem. ("Inflammable" and "flammable" mean the same thing.)

We're talking storage cabinets here.

The cabinets could be considered aspects because of potential environmental impact if they do not perform as required. I really haven't seen this done, but I'll say Yes.

The chemical storage itself could be an aspect with the potential impact related to spills. Another potential impact could be impact related to potential fires.

Sorry, I meant they are nonflammable. Even then they will be considered as aspect?

I conducted an EMS 3rd party audit of an organization that primarily printed with highly flammable chemicals. By the way they, recently upgrade the cleanliness capabilities with 2 million dollars in equipment.

They determined that potential fires was a significant aspect. During a facility inspection I noticed that all of the flammable storage cabinets were not grounded, even though there was a manufacturers instruction on the inside door that stated the cabinets should be grounded.

Under the curcumstances I wrote a minor non-conformance.

Chemicals and their various potential effects on the environment are aspects.

The cabinet is a preventive/control measure to control the aspect's impact.

You'd be surprised how much can be stored without a flam cabinet. I was.

Maybe. I briefly worked with a biocide that was so nasty the emptied container was supposed to be disposed of only by giving it to the fire department in triple bags. So yes, aspects are about more than fires. They are about air emissions and water too: runoff and drains to sewage.

What requirement and clause did you cite?

4.4.6 Operational Control. If potential for fire was not significant I would have written an OFI to 4.4.7. The GM immediately understood the potential consequences of a fire that may have been related to the cabinets not being grounded. The insurance company may have refused a claim because of the lack of grounding.

All the cabinets were grounded before I left that day and the 2nd facility I visited the next day had all the cabinets freshly grounded.
