Thanks. This was at Ft Irwin, CA in the Mojave Desert, and hat's me on the roof holding the grounding rod.
If you'll notice, the tail rotor & its gearbox are missing. A couple of days prior to this photo a soldier committed suicide by sticking his head into the spinning rotor (they found a note). I spent the better part of the summer of 1987 rebuilding this aircraft for the 4th Infantry Division and I took the 1st flights on her during its test flight phase...she flew great!
Vegamatic big time. Probably tore that -206 up good.
We had a pilot (West Point graduate at that) walk upslope into his own main rotor on a -58 (Bell-206 Jet Ranger)....we repaired the bird and scraped up the LT.
