Have you changed the way the google links operate?
In the past they opened a new window, at the moment they are now opening in the same window.
Did you change something. IMO this is not wanted as I open adverts but wish to continue in the forums.

Nope - Haven't changed the Google setup. On my browsers it always takes me to the site - no new window. I'm not sure if opening a new window automatically is even allowed. The code is automagically generated by Google. I can't put in any code to make it open in a new window. As I remember I did try that back in December 2003 when I first put in the Google ads but it had no effect.

I use Mozilla or Camino or Safari, mostly, which are tabbed browsers. I just right click the ad and choose Open In New Tab. When I'm done I close that tab and I'm right back where I was.

Is there a setting in IE which sets whether clicking a link opens a new window or just goes to the linked to page in the same window?

In Internet Explorer, right mouse click on link brings up menu box with following choices:
Open
Print Target
Cut
Copy
Copy Shortcut
Paste
Add to Favorites
Properties
The grayed out menu choices only come to life when the item is "painted" with the mouse. Left click on any menu item performs the requested action. Left click on Copy Shortcut adds the url behind the link to the Clipboard. Right clicking anywhere else than a link shows a completely different menu which will include choice to "Paste" the Clipboard item if the window will accept input, otherwise the Paste will be grayed out.

I think that I made a mistake.
I had been opening in a new window with out thinking about it and for some reason did not do it.
I had been so used to my automatic behaviour that the change of habit threw me.
Sorry for the noise
