Any Unipoint QMS users here?

We started using it in August of 2013 and are very satisfied. We use it in conjunction with JobBoss as our operating system. We are very satisfied with UniPoint - not so much with JobBoss. Prior to UniPoint our entire Non-conformance and Corrective Action system was dependent on human tracking. With the UniPoint system, nothing can get lost. It prints out very professional reports in a format that customers can read easily. One other thing I like is the attention to service they provide. It is not a company that you send your money to and then they forget you until the next year when your license needs to be renewed. We receive several "newsletters" during the year explaining how various functions work. I would recommend this to anyone in manufacturing.

I can echo silentrunning's response; just about the same situation. I've never been a fan of this kind of one-size-fits-all package, but uniPoint is pretty good. My recommendation is to take it a little slowly and deliberately in the implementation phase so you adapt it to your business needs rather than allowing the tail to wag the dog. There are a lot of different options for data entry in each module and it's important to establish conventions as far as possible in the beginning.

We rolled out the core modules of uniPoint late last year, with a couple of the add-on modules (Auditing and Education & Training). We are in the middle of a complete re-write of our QMS because we outgrew the old QMS. uniPoint is easy to use and does a very good job. We have been able to set-up on-line Kiosks throughout the shop for our controlled documents and get a majority of the paper documents off the shop floor. The on-line tutorials are very thorough and customer service has been first rate so far.

I definitely concur with Jim Wynne... :agree: take it slowly and get used to the functionality of the software before you jump in. There are a number of ways to add data and a number of different user assigned/customizable field.

Hope this helps!!!!

Cheers!!!

We implemented Unipoint in January of this year. I concur with previous posts regarding Corrective Action and individual Non-Conformance Reports being pretty good. The tie in with Job-Boss is handy. However, mining non-conformance data (ie Failure Reason) has been difficult, and Non-conformance time is heavily weighted ALA Cost of Quality. Unfortunately the built-in reports are pretty much useless to me. I have to rely on Excel.
I am not satisfied at all with the calibration module(?) in Unipoint. Calibration is handled as a minor subset of Maintenance. Unipoint would be a better program if designed around ISO9000 and the Unipoint organization itself was ISO9001:2008 registered.
Unipoint Quality is the third attempt at a Job-Boss Quality Module. I had previously been trained on the TQM package that Job-Boss had, which was subsequently dumped.
We have been using Job-Boss for several years now, and it is a good choice for a small machine shop. However, Job-Boss handles inventory poorly IMHO. For repeated part numbers (Job Orders) Job-Boss cannot save job templates for repeats of same part number for different (or same)customers, cannot print part specific shipping instructions and allows an order to be forwarded to the next production step before the step is completed. Job-Boss repeat orders must have special requirements re-entered for each new order, which has led to repeated deficiencies sent to unhappy customers. Even with hundreds of hours of consultant time, the deficiencies persist.

Hi Folks,
This is my first post, so apologies if the question has already been answered.

For those of you who have implemented uniPoint, have you had to validate internally, or did you rely on the Val module? My company found the validation module less than helpful, so I am tasked with retrospectively validating (I know-retrospective validation is frowned upon) the system.

Can anyone offer any insights as to what you included in the scope of the validation?

Many thanks!

No we have not used for Validation. Unipoint is just OK as a database, but I would design it differently from the ground up, within JobBoss, to be more in line with "standard" Quality functions from an ISO or AS perspective.
Unipoint is more of a quick fix to JobBoss lack of a quality module. It is sold to management as a silver bullet, therefore it must be so.
Just my opinion.

I've been thrown in the deep end here, with regards to UniPoint - I know I'm probably dreaming, but can anyone point me to a useful training resource?
