Hi all, I have just received the following email and wondered if anyone else has also received it. I have my suspicions about its authenticity but here we go:

Subject : Changes ISO 9001, 14001 and 27001

Dear Consultant

Please find below an update regarding certification matters, with particular reference to the above standards.

As you may know the standards ISO 9001 and 14001 are being reviewed internationally and many of you will no doubt have been advised of the changes and may have been offered training etc..

However, the proposed changes have been challenged by at least two
countries that reside within the ISO forum e.g.: USA and as such, there is
now a delay as to the publications of the standards.

Further, such schemes that use ISO 9001 as a base, e.g.: ISO/TS 16949 have also expressed a concern with the proposed changes.

As a result, any work on possible transition to the new standards may be
premature.

We shall of course advise of any developments as we know more.

Finally, we are pleased to advise that URS has been granted accreditation
to the new, transitioned standard ISO 27001: 2013.

Hoping the above is beneficial.

The ballot for the DIS ends tomorrow. So, the email reads as speculation to me.

Two countries "challenging" the DIS? There is a process in place to advance the documents, or not. It does not require unanimity.

Well, the DIS comment period is closing tomorrow.

I know that some countries mentioned that there were still some problems/controversies with the draft, but even if 2 countries vote negative, it?s still not enough to prevent the standard from going to FDIS.

Thanks gentlemen, I also wondered why they referenced 27001 in the title when it is of course already published.

A bit of research shows that it was sent by ros-group - who happen to be URS and they are telling the world that they are now accredited to 27001!

The equivalent of spam, IMHO. I understand that nearly every time, the USA TAG vote against, every time - it's "politics"...
