Hi,

We already have an ISO 9001 approved management system in place and are now planning to add OHSAS 18001 to the system. At this stage we are not going for the Environmental standard.

Has any one a copy template for an Management Manual integrating 9001 and 18001 that can guide us. I know there are many manuals integrating 9001, 18001 and 14001 but cant find one for 9001 and 18001 only.

Thanks,

D

Curious, what is the real advantages of integrated manuals/systems?

In our organization OHSAS and ISO 9001 responsibilities are with different people. I see no real advantage but couldn't it result in one failing they both fail (or a major NC in OHSAS means the ISO9001 cert is not issued)??

Hi Darren,

First of all, I have no 9001 & 180001 only manual either, but what your best bet would be depends a bit on your current system and manual:

I belive most of us have settled for a setup making use of ISO 9001, clause 4.2.2, which allows us to create a rather lean manual, using references to the documented procedures, rather than include them in the actual manual. In that case the manual question becomes rather simple: OHSAS 18001 requires no manual as such, but it could still be a good idea to include some of the data, along the same lines as in ISO9001 in the manual.

If you, on the other hand, have chosen to include most of the documented procedures into your current manual, your best bet imo would be to start with the manual you already have, walk through 18001, check what ISO9001 already covers, use that, and then include the missing parts into your manual.

Obviously you need to fill in the gaps as decribed above regardless of which option you have chosen.

Go through the standards and identify the common requirements, document control, management review etc and when you write a procedure simply make reference (by saying that it applies to) 9001, 18001 and 14001.
