Hi, i am new member here. i found out this forum is very helpful and answered a lot of questions in my mind.

I need expert to answer and help questions below:

1) scope: sales and services oil and gas equipment (referring API Spec 7-1), we only sales and doing some maintenance and servicing the oil and gas equipment, can we go for product certification?

2) How to fulfill API Spec 7-1? We purchased from suppliers before we sell and service, do we need to check the purchased product spec as per API Spec 7-1? I read through the spec, seems like more to product requirements for those design and manufacturers.

3) Any documentation required (documented procedures as per ISO 9001 or control features as per API Spec Q1) by API Spec 7-1? Or documented procedures required by ISO 9001 and API Spec Q1 are sufficient?

4) I am not technical personnel so quite hard for me to understand API Spec 7-1, but is appointed to in charge all the documentation and API certification.:( Need technical expert to help me on API certification and product certification.

I am familiar with ISO 9001:2008 but no idea with API Spec 7-1.

Appreciate if you could advices or help me with some samples.:thanx:

If I am reading this correctly it seems like your company would benefit more with API Q1 and Spec. 7-2. API Spec. 7-2 is for rotary shoulder gauging requirements. If I misunstood what you are looking for I apologize.

Not. Nothing to do with the gauges. We are doing re-cut standard connection (pin x box) of drill collar, subs and tool points.

Starting to get Involved
To achieve a Monogram License to API Spec 7-1 you will also have to get certified to API Q1. 7-1 will detail specifically what is required, especially dimensional requirements. The good thing about API Specificatiions is that they tell you exactly what is required. There is no specific requirement for a procedure for this specification, but your design and the design documents and data must meet all of the requirements of 7-1. Please note the 7-1 refers to material, testing requirements, validation and test records, and diameters and dimensions. Your API auditor will verify the design data and ensure that it meets all of the API requirements.

ISO 9001 is contained wholly within the API Q1, so any additional procedural requirements will be up to you to determine if it is needed. Please note one of the biggest differences between ISO and API is the requirement for documented control features.

Best of luck to you!

Hi all,

We do here Re-cut and make the connection (PIN & BOX) again in drill collars as per API 7-1 requirements, since we are THREADERS. Drill collars are not manufactured according to API 7-1 requirements.
Could the threads be marked as per 7-1 requirements (Annex B, B.1.3)?

Please help me and advice.

Thanks,
Antony.
