If you noticed the 'format' changing for a bit it's because vB released another 'update'... :frust:

I'm almost finished...

I received this:

"I don't know if it is my end or yours, but prior to today when I clicked on "New Posts" (or "refresh"), the ones that I have read (since logging on) show up as normal font as opposed to bold font for unread ones. Today, they stay bold regardless of whether I've read them or not."

Is anyone else noticing this?

Earlier this morning all I noticed was the "profile" stuff in the postings was missing. That has since "come back". Everything looks the same (as far as the New Posts and boldness of unread threads) on my end.

I did the main chenges between midnight and 5am. The profiles info is a template mod which I missed last night and did when I got up this morning. I still have a couple of mods to reinstall yet but only 1 visual one in the forums home to separate the major forums groupings with a space.

When are you planning on restoring other display formats? I could use the 800x600 display. I have to continuously scroll horizontally to read posts. Otherwise everything is A-OK.

:thanx:

I'll look at it this weekend. It's not too hard to do. It was dropped from the vB v3 release so I'll have to remake the style.

Double posting detector?

When I submitted a post yesterday I was rewarded with a sign telling me that I was about to make a duplicate post. When I checked, the post was there as it should be. It would seem that there is now something preventing us from double posting. I like that, as it is one of my "favourite" mistakes..

Ummmm, well, that's supposed to have been part of the software for some time. It is supposed to look at a user's post to see if a duplicate has been submitted. This came from the dialup days and from forums running on slower servers. Sometimes a person would click on the 'Post' button (or whatever) and while the post actually went through the update stalled or something and they'd click again. You've probably been to sites - especially when processing credit cards where you get a warning screen saying something like "Only click ONCE or you might be double charged! Please WAIT for the next screen. This many take a minute..." or words to that effect. This is becoming less of an issue with broadband spreading as it is. But - if the site is on a slow or overloaded server this still can occur.

How did you end up submitting the same post twice?
