ITAR Document Types and Training

Hi,

I have two questions for anyone that can help. We do ITAR and EAR99 work at the company I work for. I am not all that familiar with the types of documents that would receive an ITAR and EAR99. I hoping that someone can recommend a good start as to where I can receive some good training. Second of all, if you have an order that requires ITAR compliance and the drawings generated have an ITAR wartermark on them for identification purposes is that the extend of what is considered to be ITAR for that job? Or would all of the manufacturing routings used to build the job, red-lined BOM's etc.. be considered as ITAR as well because the PO contract states that the order is ITAR controlled? I just want to be able to easily identify what is what without having to ask in the case of routings and such. Can someone direct me to a website that can help with this sort of classification of document types?

Thanks,

A consultant once tried to convince someone that even our outside process companies for domestic coatings needed to be ITAR registered (when we already were). I knew it wasn't true but poured through things to prove it. But just to have something documented I found where you can get an official answer. You can get guidance from the Directorate of Defense Trade Controls.

Thanks for the replies Sidney and Eredhel. I have a starting point now.

If the part is identified as ITAR then any document which contains any information about what the part is, how you manufacture it, and processes involved is also ITAR. So a Control Plan would be ITAR along with Inspection sheets, process certificates, etc.

Russ,

Somehow I missed your response. I had not been on here for a while. Do you know of a source where I can verify those things you mentioned as being ITAR controlled? Those are my thoughts as well, but I need to back it up when I bring it up here.

Thanks,

Steve
