Dear friends,
I would like to know one thing about material for orthopedic knee implants.
my questions are
1.Knee femoral component made with Cobalt-chrome (Co-Cr) then what material will be used for the trail component?
2.Knee Insert component made with UHMWPE then what material will be used for the trail component?
Please have a look and give me the info.
Waiting for your reply.

Trusted Information Resource
do you mean trial component?

It should be possible to use any material that is capable of meeting the design requirements, which if I remember correctly are essentially for sizing. Therefore, the material must be able to maintain its shape and size (while being hammered and generally abused by an orthopaedic surgeon) over multiple operations.

It must be capable of undergoing repeated sterilisation processes (or cheap enough to make single use - I've not seen this though) and demonstrate suitable biocompatibility

[edit] as part of your risk assessment you should consider the situation whereby the trial is left in the patient as the definitive implant

I would recommend you to visit the company's website and read through their surgical technique. It may have description about the trials and other related information.
