Hi,

we manufacture orthopaedic implants viz plates , screws , nails, etc and also sterile products like hip & knee joints .How do we define life time for both these groups , is there and definition or guideline. A knee may last for maybe 20 to 25 years depending on the condition of patient and could vary with patients condition , level of activity etc .so how does one define lifetime. Any help would be welcome.

Thanks

The Kaplan-Meier survival curve, a technique borrowed from the life insurance industry. This technique allows the stepwise collection of data on implant survival at intervals, using joint arthroplasty revision or patient death as the endpoints.

I just heard of this but its for you to see how useful it is for your situation....
