Dear Mr.Miner

Sorry to ask too many questions. I did some research and as you said I found EVOP much more reasonable and efficient. Thank you so much.
However I have another question that I can't find any answers to. My GA code takes a really long time to converge (2000 generations in 3-4 days) and I don't have enough time and resources to manage too many runs. Can I use EVOP or RSM in limited number of generations? I mean instead of running the algorithm till convergence every time I change a parameter value I'd like to compare the best answer found by the algorithm with different levels of crossover and mutation rate in just 100-200 generations? Will the best found parameter levels be reliable?

I am not familiar with GA code, so I can't help you there. If you decide to go the EVOP route, I would use the best conditions that you found using the Taguchi design as a starting point and create the remaining two levels of your simplex in the direction of steepest ascent (or descent depending on the direction of optimization).

Using a larger simplex will get you in the general area of the optimum faster (fewer runs), but may not find the exact optimum. A smaller simplex will find the best optimum, but takes more runs to get there.

Actually this is the first time I hear the word simplex in EVOP method. Do you mean the combination I choose for the next step by simplex?

A simplex is the pattern of three experiments that form the basis for EVOP. See Process Improvement through simplex EVOP for an explanation.
