Dear Experts,
In relation to standard 4.2.4 control of records, do we need to establish a set of records for ISO only?
Many thanks

Hello D. Salman,

No, you do not maintain a set of records for "ISO." You maintain records to provide evidence of conformity to requirements and of the effective operation of your quality management system.

There are required records to be maintained and the rest is really up to you.
For the required records (as applicable to your system) look here.

Keep in mind that certain records are required by regulatory agencies and perhaps by law (statute).

ISO 9001:2000 states:

4.2.4 Control of records
Records shall be established and maintained to provide evidence of conformity to requirements and of the effective operation of the quality management system. Records shall remain legible, readily identifiable and retrievable. A documented procedure shall be established to define the controls needed for the identification, storage, protection, retrieval, retention time and disposition of records.

A good thing to remember is that: "If you decide to keep a record, control it."

Make it work for you.

Stijloor.
