AIAG DCP format - Posted by Cathy Pequeño on Friday, 26 June 1998, at 9:18 a.m.

Why are there three columns in the Characteristics section of the AIAG dcp format: Char. No., Product and Process? What information goes in each of the last two columns?

Well, to start off, there are a number of formats you can use for control plans. And, in fact, many companies combine documents. I see combination control plan - flow diagram a lot. But, as to your question...

The No. column is for an identifier. Control Plan, FMEA, and Flow Diagram link. Think of this as a cross-reference number.

The Product column will have an entry if the characteristic is a product characteristic (eg: no burrs or 0.125 inch). The process column would be if it is a process characteristic (eg: mix ratio).

If you take a look at the AIAG APQP manual there are several control plan examples. Check it out.

Hope this helps!
