Hi All,

Does anyone know the status of MIL-HDBK-217G? I found a few web links to Crane Navy site, but the trail goes cold.

Thanks
Allan

The DoD Assist web site is showing MIL-HDBK-217F Change Notice 2, 28-FEB-1995, as being current. I do not know if there is a change in process.

MIL-HDBK-217G is currently in pahse 1 of the revision. The new date for release is end of 2010 although i expect it will probably be the end of April 2011.

According to DoD Assist it is still being supported and is currently under revision and due to be released by the end of 2010.

Further investigation shows that MIL-HDBK-217F is still active. Project SESS-2008-001 was initiated in the first quarter of 2008 to revise MIL-HDBK-217 to revision G and completion is planned for the fourth quarter of 2010.

If anyone has access to DoD Assist a search for MIL-HDBK-217 will take you to the active version where there is a link for the revision project.

Correction:

  • MIL-HDBK-217F has not been updated with current failure rates since 1995. Support was stopped in 1995
  • RIAC filled the gap with RIAC-HDBK-217PLUS since that time
  • Due to reliability issues with commercial, off the shelf product, DoD has decided to re-release MIL-HDBK-217 at level G with the addition of Physics of Failure and current railure rate data, but has not done so at this time. See FedBizOps.Gov for current details

This thread is really old, but also the first Google hit for "mil-hdbk-217g", so I figured I'd close out the thread.
I emailed commandstandards at navy.mil, per FedBizOps regarding the update.
They confirmed to me today that the project was discontinued, and that there is no MIL-HDBK-217G.

Thank you all for the lead on tracking it down. I'm trying to develop my company's electronics quality policy, and was hoping to read it as a reference.:thanx:

I've found Rev F in several places, so I'm starting to parse through it. I'm also looking at the Fides project as well.
