Chart with LSL and USL: What is it's name?

G

G.Pito

Sorry for this very basic question.

I simply need besides CP and CPK index to display a chart where:
Y Axis: Values
X Axis: Parts
USL and LSL limits are displayed.

This is not a X-Chart since single values are displayed (sample size = 1) but what is the FORMAL NAME of a chart like this?

As reference I add an image where the chart I am referring to is displayed at the bottom.

Thank you for your help to a newbie :)

It is a "run" chart.

The top is a bar chart and the bottom looks like a run chart its kind of fuzzy? WHAT data are you trying to get?

For the lower chart, You say Spec Limits...and they are labeled USL and LSL
...but then there is that pesky +3sigma and -3sigma note over on the right.

Assuming that the line labeled USL is in reality +3sigma...it is really an upper control limit, not an upper spec limit.

Assuming that this is the case, some software programs (SAS JMP, NWA QA, etc.) call this an "I-chart"

...whatever you call it, it is a tool to track your process mean and variation to help determine if your process is "in control".

For individual numbers, what is used is an Xi chart, with the variation-based chart being MRbar chart.
