Would a First Piece Inspection be classified as a key process input, current process controls or both?

It's definitely a process control. I don't see any reason why it could be seen as key process input of course if that means key inputs to the process.

Interestingly, First piece inspection, if used to confirm process setting condition as a validation of sorts, is seen as current prevention control.

First Piece Inspection is just that - the first piece of production that validates that your process meets the requiremnts of the customers. It does not tell you how your production / process are functioning or deviating nor does it give you any indication if your process is effective - it just tells you that is ready to proceed.
