Actually, complications like retinal detachment is quite low (I was given to understand it is in the region of less than 2%). I just happen to come across these 3 cases among my friends, two of which I personally felt could had been avoided if they had done their homework. Personally, I think you have to choose the clinic carefully.
I had a look at the links you provided. I am not being biased but a one man operation has limited budget for new equipments and know how. I favor group practices which pool resources, both people/know-how and equipment. Looks like you made a good choice.
