Time Study in a Sewing Production Line

C

hello, im an newly graduated industrial engineer in a tshirt making company, we have 7 sewing lines with around 17 different operations in each line depending on the style, I made a time study with a chronometer and most of my operations range from 19 sec. to 50 sec. depending on the operation, machine and operator, i was wondering if anybody can help me find a software or excell spreadsheet thats easy to use and can help me to determine how i can rearrange my lines so that i can lower my times and increase my production.

I would apreciate your help thank you very much.:)

There are several potential tools to use.

For example, have you flow charted the process? And does the physical flow move smoothly from station to station, and are the stations arranged physically close to each other? Are there backlogs in front of certain stations (see Theory of Constraints).

Then there is the issue of analyzing the data. SPC can help answer questions like are there significant differences between operators? equipment? This can help with improving the throughput of individual stations.
