Quality Gurus - Are there any 'gurus' from Europe?

We all have seen articles on the Gurus of Quality, but it seems they are either American or Japanese. Are there any 'gurus' from Europe?

I was reviewing my powerpoints for a into to quality class and it struck me there are no original gurus other than American or Japanses.

David Hutchins is widely regarded as a 'Quality' leader in the UK, for example: http://www.hutchins.co.uk/default.aspx

Also, Allan J Sayle is a well known Quality personality both in the UK as well as USA. He's well published too http://www.sayle.com/sayle/ASA Allan Sayle.htm

DUH!!!!!! How about Dr Juran? You can't say his name without thinking quality management. Of course we have lost him.

Although born in Romania, Juran came to the US with his family when he was seven or eight years old, so I'm not sure he qualifies in the sense that the OP was looking for. Like Deming, Juran's most significant work was done in the US and Japan.

I think Juran was "from" Europe unless there are 2 Romania's with one of them located on a different continent.

Sorry to “hi-jack” your post. But, in my opinion, there are "Gurus of Quality" all over the world: the Quality Managers of small and big shops who every day must craft these mind-numbing standards into something that their fellow co-workers can swallow and follow with success.

I sometimes think we wait for one "guru" to enlighten us when we have so many in our field who could "knock our socks off" with their incredible insight. And, just as the Cove forum does day after day, we must continue tapping the well.
