Sir,
What are APQP and PPAP? What do they used for and why do we need it. I am just a QE beginner!
Thank Master
APQP = Advanced Product Quality Planning
APQP is the entire quality planning process from designing a concept through PPAP (see below). This typically includes, but is not limited to, Design/Process FMEAs, Measurement System Analysis, capability studies, Control Plans and PPAP.PPAP = Product Part Approval Process
PPAP is the approval process for the product. It includes the major elements of APQP listed above, plus dimensional, material and performance verifications.Note: this is far from inclusive. AIAG publishes manuals for each of the topics listed above.
Let's take First Piece Qualification (FQP) as a mile stone. Should the above documents be made before or after the FPQ? We have some other documents such as MPP (Manufacturing Process Plan), PQP (Product Quality Plan or Inspection and Test Plan). Can you advise about the sequence of document? For example, we need MPP + PQP for FPQ. After FPQ we will make APQP, PPAP for mass production?
Thank
MPP and PQP are part of APQP. The bulk of APQP occurs prior to FPQ. FPQ is one aspect of the PPAP, typically the dimensional verification.Let's take First Piece Qualification (FQP) as a mile stone.
