Could I have the update file in exl of VDA 6.3??
Is this good to make supplier assessment on their quality system?
Pls, share your experience
Yes, it is. VDA 6.3 document is a copyrighted document and must be purchased from the VDA.

(many companies have published checklist on their web sites. Hella for example).

Thanks a lot Harry

I had reviewed several checklists but had not found the scoring explanations.

I visit many plants as an OEM auditor. How can it be that most plants are A (>92% I believe) when their shopfloor is such a mess ?

I extracted/summarized the guidelines from you file below for other viewers

10 Full compliance with requirements

8 Predominant compliance with requirements, (minor non conformities without effect on function./ hardly claimed by the internal/ external customer).

6 Partial compliance with requirements; more severe nonconformities (potentially lead to a product nonconformance / A claim is also to be expected from customers with a critical attitude )

4 Unsatisfactory compliance with requirements, major nonconformities

0 No compliance with requirements
may potentially lead to a product nonconformance
will surely be claimed by all internal/ external customers.

Thanks again
Can you share an example of a non conformance and let us judge / score using the VDA 6.3 guidelines?

"Calibration" of auditors is very important.

Re: VDA 6.3 Scoring guidelines

As regards the examples that had surprised me regarding a VDA 6.3 A-ranked company :

One of the company I visited had non conforming parts dispatched all over the shopfloor, and half of them were poorly tagged.
Oven parameters were out of tolerance range as well ("but not too much, so it is ok").
The storage area was a total mess : NC parts that were 3 year old were stored with good parts.
A few months after my own visit (and without much evidence of work on their side), they got an A in VDA 6.3 evaluation

I let you judge and share your comments.

Thanks for your help so far anyway, this has helped me a lot

Regards

Popeos

Re: VDA 6.3 Scoring Guidelines

Based on the information you provided, my score would be a 6 for the questions dealing with those topics (lower even if I would find more evidence.)

The items you mentioned could lead to major product non-conformances.

Of course if all the other questions are an 10, then they could still be an "A", because the final score is the average of all questions.

Re: VDA 6.3 Scoring Guidelines

In the latest version of VDA 6.3 ( june 2010 ) and the English reprint ( feb 2011 ) it has following table as scoring guideline :

Points Assessment of compliance with requirements

10 Full compliance with requirements

8 Requirements mainly(*) satisfied, only minor deviations

6 Requirements partially satisfied, significant deviations

4 Requirements inadequately satisfied, major deviations

0 Requirements not satisfied

(*) = "The term ""mainly"" means that all relevant requirements have been
shown as achieved in more than 75% of all relevant cases and
there is no special risk."

I have also attached an excel extract from it.

As already said : a lot depends on the training & experience of the auditor.

Hope this helps.

Best regards,

Antoine

Re: VDA 6.3 Scoring Guidelines

Hello
I had an interresting comment from a trainer.
"If the auditor does not prove a non comformity, the rating has to be 10"
For any test the auditee has to prove what he does, but not for vda 6.3....
I am not surprized any more about the results and the real **** we have to suffer every day....
I am sorry to say that iso ts promoted by vda no longer meets the customer needs in today's world.
It was good but today it is just a cost consuming system.
