Gamma Sterilization of Coin Batteries (Primary Batteries)

Starting to get Involved
We're developing a disposable that includes a coin cell battery (either alkaline or Silver Oxide). We've contacted a couple of places regarding the risks involved with gamma sterilization and have gotten conflicting answers.

Energizer battery's website suggests that you use gamma or ETO for their batteries, yet one gamma sterilization company told us that they've never seen it work.

Does anyone have experience with this? I know that we'll have to do our own testing, but I just would like to find out one way or another if it's been done successfully before.

A quick "Bump". My Thanks in advance to anyone who can help with this one.

We did a test with some alkaline and silver oxide batteries and actually, the performance increased. It was ok for application (coin cell). However, as all of the sterilization places would say, you should try at the gamma power that will be used in your application - no guarantees. I believe we were at the lowest power range.

batteries with PCB's won't work - ie, any rechargeable battery won't work.
