Thank You! Sample format for Equivalency Protocol /Report

Hi,

Does any one here have some sample for an Equivalency Test Protocol or Report.
My main problem is what would be my acceptance criteria to for the equivalency and 2Sample T test .

Thank you in advance.\

Re: Sample format for Equivalency Protocol /Report

you must provide the criteria for equivalency. what level of difference is small enough for you to consider 'equivalent'? What risk are you will to take (alhpa and beta risks).

Then if the p value for the 2 sample test is greater than the critical value your two methods are 'statistically not diiferent'

if you provide us a bit more information on what you are trying to do, we can provide more specific advice.

if this is just a 'how do I do this in Minitab' question, I will defer to the many minitab experts on this site.

Re: Sample format for Equivalency Protocol /Report

Hi Bev,

I've done a 2 Sample T test and equal Variance.
And the result are attached below

Two-Sample T-Test and CI: TitanPro 6331, Basell PP 592
Two-sample T for TitanPro 6331 vs Basell PP 592
N Mean StDev SE Mean
TitanPro 6331 720 0.411736 0.000190 0.0000071
Basell PP 592 720 0.411273 0.000474 0.000018
Difference = mu (TitanPro 6331) - mu (Basell PP 592)
Estimate for difference: 0.000463
95% upper bound for difference: 0.000494
T-Test of difference = 0.0004 (vs <): T-Value = 3.30 P-Value = 0.999 DF = 943

Test for Equal Variances: Dim ID 0.412 versus Material
95% Bonferroni confidence intervals for standard deviations
Material N Lower StDev Upper
Basell PP 592 720 0.0004476 0.0004742 0.0005039
TitanPro 6331 720 0.0001792 0.0001898 0.0002016
F-Test (Normal Distribution)
Test statistic = 6.24, p-value = 0.000
Levene's Test (Any Continuous Distribution)
Test statistic = 7.73, p-value = 0.006

The 2 Sample T test and equal variance fails but if i compare the Cpk , the new material has a higher cpk value. So my question is , to be able to pass the 2 Sample T test , it must be always equal to or lesser than T test difference. For equal variance to pass P value must be always above 0.05.

Re: Sample format for Equivalency Protocol /Report

as always, the statistical output table is meaningless unless we understand the nature of the test itself.

Cpk is a test of the location and dispersion of the individuals values vs the tolerances.

a two sample t-test will only tell you if the means are statistically significantly different or not. It won't tell you if the difference is practically large or small.

a homogeneity of variance will only tell if the differnce in variance is statistically significantly different

In order to answer your real questions, can you post:
  • your raw data for the two samples
  • tell what you are measuring - what characteristic?
  • what is a Bassel and a TitanPro? are they different materials?, processes?, equipment? measurement devices?
Thanks to Bev D for your informative Post and/or Attachment!

Hi Bev ,

Here it is,
  • your raw data for the two samples - see attached fle
  • tell what you are measuring - what characteristic? I'm measuring the CTQ
  • what is a Bassel and a TitanPro? are they different materials?, processes?, equipment? measurement devices? They are 2 different material that was process at the same day with the same parameters at the same machine.
  • I am comparing the 2 materials to make sure which ever I used have the same or almost same product dimensional result. It was measured with the same measurement equipment , MSA already done.
Specs is 0.412 = 0.002 /-0.002, T test difference = 10 % of the tolerance band or lesser (0.0004)
