I want to do an audit of process and product analysis at my company. Does anyone have an audit form that they would be willing to share? We are trying to get a "big picture" look at what we are doing for measurement and analysis at each process step, and then determine if we are doing the right things, or if there are gaps to fill. I'm looking for a format in which to report the findings.

Thanks.

Hmm
A process audit would do the job.
Can you let us know what you would be measuring and how you would do it?

I'll attach one of the process audit check lists we use, maybe you can get some idea for your system. Hope this helps

Howdy, Wallace:

I basically took a flow chart of the process steps, and went to each process and wrote down what I saw. I recorded as an observation: a short process description with the process measurement indicated. -- example: Process step:CNC lathe creates ID chamfer; Measurement: unilateral control chart of the ID, frequency: 30 minutes, sample size: 1

I then want to add a recommendations/findings section, but don't know if I should do that right with the audit observation, or in a separate section. I am looking for other ideas to present my case to the management about how to proceed to close the gaps between practice and what would be best for the process step.........

Sorry,
I missed your reply.
Taking into consideration what you are attempting to do (And it's doable), I would approach this task by recording process measurements on three (3) easily usable tools.
The three tools being a Run chart, Pareto and then use a cause and effect chart to correlate you measurements to identifying gaps associated with the process measured.
JMO, FWIW.

Thanks for the idea. If they hire me, then maybe I will get to use this idea as we work through each process. I told the client that I think they should use Pareto of inspection defects and info from customers about CTQs to figure out the most critical parameters to measure. They take all kinds of data, but don't really use it except to make a go/no go decision about a lot of parts.

I told them lots of other stuff, too. The audit report was 6 pages...............I did not a few best practices. They are poised to do great things. They just need to organize and manage the data collection.

Onhe way I have found to get management attention is to convert defects or pieces in to dollars for your Pareto. That way you can get you biggest bang for the buck in problem solving.
