Hello Everyone,
I have recently taken a new position and one of my new responsibilities is to return defective materials to vendors, both domestic and international.
The international vendors want as low a value as possible listed on the shipping documents because they have to pay duties and taxes on the product even though the materials are being returned to the country of origin. The shipping folks for my company will not agree to this because they feel it will be a red flag to customs.
How does anyone else handle this situation?
Does anyone have a good reference on the subject?
I am located in the US and the international returns are mainly to Europe and China, if that makes any difference.
Any input will be appreciated.
Thank You,
Sarge
