7.4.3.2 Supplier Monitoring

Could someone explain the meaning of this bullet point in ISO/TS 16949:2002, element 7.4.3.2 (Supplier Monitoring)?

Supplier performance shall be monitored through the following indicators:

* "special status customer notifications related to quality or delivery".

Good question. Its not even addressed on the "quality system assessment checklist" for TS2.
Nor is there any help from the IATF guidance:
"The trend of performance through the utilization of these indicators represents a confirmation of the supplier quality system capability. This also can represent a baseline for continual improvement. These indicators should be validated.
Consideration should be given to both internal and external customers.
Manufacturing process performance also refers to utilization of lean manufactyring tools e.g.: . . . . "

Our CB has stated that "special status" refers to customer notificatio of; Q1 revocation, DCX "Needs improvement" or the GM containment policy.

I agree with Sam.

If you get notification from your customer, and it is due to a supplier, are you passing that info down to them?? Even though you are responsible for your suppliers, how do they know if they have produced bad product, unless the flow of info is there? Just MHO.

Any notification by customer which relates to sub-suppliers, the information have to communicated and monitor their improvement plan..
