Error in ASTM D3039 - 13.3.1 - Tensile Chord Modulus of Elasticity

Just checking that I am not going crazy.

ASTM D3039 states in 13.3.1. Tensile Chord Modulus of Elasticity:

Echord = Ds/De (9)

where:
Echord = tensile chord modulus of elasticity, GPa [psi];
Ds = difference in applied tensile stress between the two strain points of Table 3, MPa [psi]; and
De = difference between the two strain points of Table 3 (nominally 0.002).

The way I figure, if you put in Ds as MPa, then the result for Echord will be in MPa also, and not GPa as stated. Just like when Ds is put in as psi, the result will be in psi.

Right?

Maybe calling this an error is going a bit far, but it's confusing at best.

Can someone help with this?

Thanks!!

Wow, this is so far outside my scope of experience.

Help. Bump.

Stijloor,

Were you able to find an answer? I completely agree with your school of thought and am surprised that ASTM has not still updated the standard...
