Internal Auditors required to be certified to VDA 6.3 by a 3rd party

Please help.
My customer wants us to have our internal process auditors get certified to VDA6.3 by a 3rd party institute to perform the internal audit against VDA6.3. Is this one of the requirements stipulated in VDA6.3?

Thank you in advance.

As far as I know there is no requirement for this.
I have had a number of contacts with German OEM's that have accepted VDA 6.3 audits from suppliers with out asking for this certification.
But if the customer requires then it is irrelevant if it is in the standard.

Not a requirement as far as I know in VDA.

How are your auditors trained and by whom?

Can your customer show you a written requirement for this? (might just be a wish). Discuss with your customer how you train your VDA 6.3 auditors.

At one of my clients, I trained 15 SQE in the 6.3 audit after receiving training and hands-on / observed audit by experience 6.3 auditor.

It appears that there is a major change going to be implemented in VDA 6.3 so I would check on this before you do anything

VDA6.3 IS SUPERCEDED BY ISO/TS16949.where such a requirement is not there. All that is required is that your internal auditors should be trained on TS16949-2009 by some trained person.
But customers can specify their special requirements ,you can make them pay for it.

No, this document covers process audits.

No, auditors must be competent. They must be trained by a competent individual.

True, you can try. Whether they will remains to be seen.;)

Well, it is a question that is on the agenda in our company too after the last revisions from 2016 of IATF 16949 & VDA 6.3.
There are requirements in IATF 16949 for regularly internal process and product audits. Process and product audits modes are given by VDA...VDA have some prerequisites and qualification stages described in Quality Management Training and Professional Development 2017 .

But...the question is: Does it required by IAFT/ for successful IATF certification to have a certified internal auditors & supplier auditors? Or to have auditors just familiar with requirements of VDA 6.3 and certified for ISO 9001 & IATF 16949 &ISO 19011 is enough to cover requirements?

Hello DeedeeM,

I think your company should also look into Customer Specific Requirements. If VAG is part of the customer portfolio. then -->
The VW Q Capability for example described that you need to do a self-audit and that it must be conducted by certified VDA 6.3 auditors. Be aware that they have also some other requirements regarding VDA 6.3 for example supplier and supply chain audits.
