Visual Controls(VC)

Definition:

Simple visual and audio signals that provide an immediate understanding of a situation or condition.

They are efficient, self regulating, and worker managed.

This is the definition that is associated with Visual Controls for a “lean” organization.

Visual Controls should be self-regulating and worker managed because if they are not, they probably will not be maintained. The worker for whom the device was intended must have ownership of the visual control. It has to make sense to the user.
