Hi,

I'm envolved projects and PPAP process in a automotive supplier.
Actually we are working with car companies, bus companies and some tractor companies.

I'm sure car companies has right to ask for PPAP and truck companies also. It's all descired in original PPAP book.

But i'm not sure bus companies has right or not ?
Also one of the tractor company is asking for PPAP. Have they right to ask for it?
In original PPAP, there is only description automotive companies and OEM manufacturers. Nothing else.

I didn't find anything in original PPAP book.
Do you know in which page can i find this specific information?

Thank you,

Welcome to the cove:agree:

Manufacturers of parts for Off road vehicles such as tractors cannot be certified to ISO/TS 16949. There is a tractor company that is requireing ISO/TS despite the fact that his parts are not valid for TS certificationb!
Your customer can ask for whatever he wants, this is an issue that should be dealt with at the review of customer requirements.
Does he require PPAP?

The PPAP book explains how to do the PPAP any one can adopt it.

Thank you for help.

Yes, the Tractor company is requiring PPAP for their all parts.
I just wanted to be sure they have right to ask or not.

Also some of the little bus company asking for PPAP.

Yes, This is the issue for covering customer requirement also.
You know, TS is asking for always Customer Requirement.
Is this a bit contradiction?

The customer can request what he wants
You in your contract review should decide what5 is included in the price and if the ppap costs more.

In your TS audit the Tractor will not be audited but this does not stop the customer askinf

Quite Involved in Discussions
I have seen customers in the electronic business ( completely outside automotive ) asking for PPAP.

They have the right to ask.
The suppliers have the task of evaluating the feasibility of the company to fulfill the requirement(s).

In fact I have seen non-Ford customers asking for Q1 compliance.

Best regards,

Antoine

Antoine brings up an interesting point.

I had a representive of a hardwood flooring company attending one of my PPAP courses. His explanation of why he wanted to make his wood suppliers PPAP responsible made complete sense to me.

Just one more thing.

How about Bus Companies?

Will their parts be involved with TS certification?

I think so, but i'm not sure.

Yes, because a bus is an "on-road" vehicle. The bus company can require their suppliers to be ISO/TS certified.

Here is the list:
  • Truck
  • Bus
  • Automobile
  • Motorcycle
