Combining two time series graphs and putting a break line between them

I wonder if anyone could explain how to combine two time series graphs onto one graph with a break line between them. The purpose is to dramatically show the reduction in time it takes to preform a task after changes were made to a process.

Welcome to The Cove Forums!:bigwave::bigwave:

Do you mean using Minitab or graphics software such Visio or other?
You posted this in the Minitab Forum, that's why I am asking....;)

I meant minitab. My Instructor did something like what I want when I took greenbelt traing. I am trying to recreate that or something like it. Any suggestions.

Thanks for the clarification. It is Sunday, usually a quiet day on The Cove Forums. Responses will be posted, certainly come Monday..

Re: Combining two graphs and putting a break line between them

There are a few options available to you in Minitab:

  • An Individuals chart using Stages (Stage 1 = Before; Stage 2 = After).
  • A Time Series Plot with a Reference Line added (right click on axis, select Add, Reference Line) to show where the change occurred
  • An X-Y graph using Groups to show before/after (you will have to use numbers instead of dates for this option)
If your process was in control, I recommend the Individual Chart with stages.

Would you mind explaining how to do these suggestions if it is not to much trouble. I really don't know where to begin.
