I respectfully disagree. You have to measure the characteristic with greater precise equipment in order to verify the characteristic result. In the example above, actual is 1.010 which is at the highest acceptable tolerance. I would request an inspector to measure it with greater tolerance, and it comes 1.0101, you will get Major nonconformance due to probable shipment of nonconformance.I respectfully disagree.
You should NEVER measure with greater precision than the spec calls for. It is a monumental NoNo. AS9102 has nothing to do with anything. Your MSA should match the specifications. No more no less. This is not just an aviation practice but the shipbuilding and nuclear industries as well.
