Complexity Rating - CB adding another audit day for "high complexity"

Anyone have experience with the CB adding another audit day for "high complexity" during a, AS9100D surveillance audit? Is there a definition published somewhere and how many audit days are added? We are told the CBs received a finding for not classifying the audits as low, medium, or complexity.

Last year I was told by our AS9100 auditor that our registrar automatically assigns every company as high complexity, which adds audit days to every audit, and they only change it if the client complains. A sticky wicket, no? In other words, just another money-making scheme, because everyone can't be above-average, right?

Wow, that's not cool.

Though I'm not entirely familar with the AS stuff (I've been a licensed aircaft mechanic for over 30 years and have touched nealy every square inch of multiple airframes/engines and whatever, but I ran from AS like my hair was on fire) the "normal ISO world has to go by prescribed requirements for duration (IAF MD5 being the most referenced), and the scenario you put forth just doesn't seem to fit.
