Welcome Albawolf!

Management of Change (MOC) is a big subject. Procedure depends on the industry and your interested parties - regulators mostly, which again comes back to industry.

MOC is very often thought of in terms of Process Safety Management (PSM) for chemical manufacturing sites as per the USA's OSHA 1910.119. ConocoPhillips has an MOC procedure online.

MOC is not just for chemical manufacturers. The University of Akron published their MOC procedure online too. So did Aukland Transport.

What industry are you in?

HI Jen - thanks for the comments, I work in the scientific sector (cutting edge in some cases), where we gather lots of evidence to support in policy making decisions in the UK. I am trying to support y colleagues in attaining Health and Safety ISO45001 standard and MoC was the term the Auditor used. I am basically looking for a starter for 10 in helping us develop our own MoC to meet the 45001 standard.

Hello Albawolf,

It is not enough to write a procedure based on reviewing other organizations' procedures. Controls and checklists must be appropriate for your colleagues. You might therefore want to review the Safesite How to Implement Management of Change (MoC). I am not affiliated with Safesite and I can assure you they are trying to sell you tools, but I see much good information on that site without spending anything.

IRC of Wisconsin has a MoC Training presentation on the internet.

There is a book titled Guidelines for the Management of Change for Process Safety that could be informative too. I regret not to have it, so I cannot advise on its details.

I hope this helps.
