IMDS submission without supplier's input?

I've got to submit an MDS to our customer as part of PPAP. The part basically consists of one raw material that we basically cut to size. Simple as anything. However we are struggling to get our supplier to submit an MDS for the raw material or semi component is the technical term for IMDS purposes.

What are the acceptable options if we can't get a supplier MDS? We are tied in with this supplier's material now so we can't simply go to their competitors.

Hello, did you find a solution to your problem?, I'm in a similar situation at the moment with a supplier who is far too slow with answering my requests.
The end customer is not happy at the moment.

Hi TPM48 & M.Schulz,

IMDS is important, and must be complete/accurate, I urge you both to escalate; clearly state the problem and the potential implications of wrong/late IMDS to your management...ASAP...

Hope this helps..

Not sure if this is acceptable but our customer instructed us to create our own MDS for the raw material then use that in the final part MDS. It's not my preference as that seems against the system but we did it and the customer accepted the MDS so we could move on with the PPAP.

I don't know if that helps. In our case the customer was unlikely to question and knock back the solution they instructed us to do. It was a senior buyer or manager too so there was weight behind that instruction that you might not have as cover.

I hope you get a better solution. I'd be very interested what it is if you do.

That thought has crossed my mind too, since its just a small and easy material in my case but then I guess that the responsibility for that material would fall on my company and not the supplier.

Starting to get Involved
There are a boatload of rules put out by the committee to comply in EU
Ultimately the customer you Ppap to and submit the IMDS has ultimate authority
I have had submissions where the recipient company rejected when data was entirely within the rules
I have had submissions where the recipient company accepted when data was not within the rules

ALL I DO IS IMDS
