Copying another feature of the IAQG OASIS database, where feedback loops allow for communication among stakeholders when a certified system is underperforming, the IATF announced this new feature.

The IATF CMS is a workflow tool which provides a standard approach for the submission and management of performance complaints against IATF 16949 certified organizations initiated by IATF OEMs or IATF Oversight offices and is aligned to the certificate decertification process defined in the Rules for Achieving and Maintaining IATF Recognition 5th Edition.
An IATF Performance Complaint Management System user manual is provided in the IATF database and client portal to support the implementation of this initiative.

Will be interesting to see in what instances OEMs start using the IATF CMS tool in place of their own home grown 8D/CAPA systems.

Will also be interesting to see how IATF OEMs handle suppliers that are not causing them issues, but keep having entries added into the CMS tool by other OEMs. For example, if a supplier has both Ford and GM as a customer. Ford has no issues from the supplier, but GM has consistent problems. GM could repeatedly push cert suspension using the tool which may ultimately lead to decertification, which would then impact Ford.

Fun stuff.

If they are supposed to do the right thing, a complaint through the database should NOT replace a SCAR. A complaint should be an escalation of unresolved issues and unresponsive suppliers. But, and especially in the automotive sector, the risk for the tool to be misused is high.

I agree here - this looks like Yelp for Automotive. A way to "get even" with suppliers. This will only lead to bad things.

I can already see it - customers will now add a section in their supplier qual which requires a supplier to explain all the items added in the CMS.

Preach on @Sidney Vianna The "IATF" world is getting (gotten) completely out of control. This is becoming akin to Monsanto suing farmers.

Be well.
