Dutch influenced clock tower

Nice picture, Harry! What is in the square? I see a windmill replica and what looks like a small historical plot.

Hi Marc,

This area was part of a fort built at the sea front and beside a river mouth to protect the Portuguese interest in Malacca during the sixteen century.

The building at the extreme right was something like an administrative building. The replica of a windmill was a subsequent addition to beautify the banks of the river (you can see the bridge) into a park. The building opposite the windmill (and across the river) is a Chinese temple. Together with the shop houses, they formed part of 'Jonker Street' dating back to the 16th century Portuguese and the 17th century Dutch Era.
