Employee Training Database wanted

I know this thread is a bit old but I wanted to share that I also found this database after failing miserably to create my own database, and this is perfect for what our company needs. I've been able to [easily] make tweaks that customize the database for exactly what we need and see this being a considerably easier tracking method than the Excel version we currently have. So, my many thanks for putting this together and sharing it...!

I do have one question. In the form to enter training records, I've noticed that the Job Title field is sorted descending. However, I cannot find any table, query, code, or setting that is forcing this sorting. I would like this screen to defaulted to sort either by Last Name or Employee #. However, I cannot determine what is driving the Job Title to be sorted this way... This database was converted to Access 2016. So, not sure if that is causing an issue.

This isn't a deal-breaker to use the database given the very helpful search function, and being able to type in the Last or First name of an employee. I just wanted to see if/how I could change the Job Title sort.

Thank you for your help! :thanx:

I'm glad that the database is working out for you. I don't have a definitive answer for you about the Job Title field sorting. It's been years since I've done anything with it. I'm guessing that the form is controlling the sorting. I would guess you'd need to go to the Design View of the form, right-click on the form and select Form Properties. On the Data tab there should be an Order By field. Put the name of the field you want it to sort by there and see if it works.

Good luck...

Thanks howste! I literally looked everywhere in the database for this and couldn't find this. After doing what you suggested, the sort works exactly how I needed it. Thanks for your help!

Hello howste,

Is there updated version of this file? I can't seem to use well in Access 2016. Please let me know.

Thank You!
