May each of you have a safe and enjoyable 4th of July. Remember that Freedom is not free and that we pay a price and have to sacrifice for our Liberty.

Yes!!! Hapyy 4th of July!!!!

Yes, I concur. With a short stint abroad in the service, seeing 3rd world countries and the horrors of famine and evil dictators, I am so thankful everyday to have the opportunity of living in the greatest country on Earth. Have a great 4th, I know I will.

Although the Constitution, legally, may be more important, this is where we as a country started:

In every stage of these oppressions we have petitioned for redress in the most humble terms: our repeated petitions have been answered only by repeated injury. A prince, whose character is thus marked by every act which may define a tyrant, is unfit to be the ruler of a free people.

Happy 4th!

I also would like to wish a Happy 4th of July. May it be a safe, happy, prideful and joyous holiday. :agree1:

Craig,

What an appropriate and nuanced quote for these times we live in. Hope you have a great Independence Day down in kaolin country. And a fine Independence to everyone thoughout the land.

By the way, is anybody running the Peachtree Road Race this Sunday in Atlanta? This might be my last 'fast' Peachtree ever. I'm going to try to break 40 minutes as a 40 year old. My odds aren't looking good right now...

Good luck Craig - just keep telling yourself you can heal tomorrow and keep pushing it. In the words from "Waterboy" - "You can dooooooooooooo it!"

While the 4th of July is an American Holiday - I am curious about other countries and their "Independence Day" celebrations or traditions. With people from all over the world on this site - what are some of your "4th of July" so to say holidays????

On the 4th of July the Brit's can be heard muttering under their breath:

"Thank God, or we would have had California"

"Praise be to Jefferson, Washington, Adams and those other boys, or American politics would belong to us"

"Thank goodness, or we'd have to put up with the IRS too"

"Praise be, another place to send the Irish"

About 8 years ago I was speaking to someone in the States and said that I could not talk tomorrow as it was Independence day here in Israel.
What he said do you have independence day!

Of course as a Brit we probably are the only country in the world that does not have a public holiday for the country, the Queen or anything else.
