7.5.1.8 - Service agreement question - We do not do 'service'

In the past 7.5.1.8 Service Agreement with Customer, has always been one of those "We don't do that" type of issues, and now it needs to be addressed. We do not have any service centers, and we produce a very simple part that, once installed, ever needs service throughout the entire lifespan of a vehicle.

Any suggestions on how to address this paragraph?

Thanks

Welcome to the Cove KW.

The requirement states "When there is a service agreement ....." You can still address the requirement by stating "you have no such agreement but if one comes up ....... ".

We have do not do any servicing either and stated it like this, "Presently, we do not have after sales service contracts or agreements with our automotive or custom customers; however, should service contracts or agreements ever be required by our customers, we would comply."

My recommendation would be, mention this in your QMS scope statement. You are not currently performing servicing, nor are you required to do so by your customers, therefore 7.5.1.8 is outside the scope of your QMS. Don't say "excluded" - that will get you in trouble with your CB, as we all know we can't exclude anything outside of 7.3. Your are not required to create "what if" procedures.
