7.5.1 Control of production and service - Release, delivery, post-delivery activities

I'm sort of new to this and am leanring as I go:

I have a small company (8) and I'm trying to bring the company up to compliance by the end of fall (is this possable?). I've got a bit of work done here and have had some help form a local college- but the cost of constant advisment is becoming prohibitive so if anyone has some more knolege on this it would be a grreat help.

I've got a question on the implementation of release, delivery and post-delivery activites. I'm not quite sure what exactly is being asked of here- I'm not sure if a ontime delivery log is enough, or do i need like a customer satisfaction log as well?

First of all, welcome to the Cove.

I think for 7.5.1 you have to look at the whole picture. The requirement is to plan and carry out the whole production and service provision under controlled conditions. Items a - f outline the normal steps of a production process from planning through shipping and follow-up if applicable.

f) which is the one you are questioning would be answered by describing your controlled condition for releasing, delivering and servicing the product after you make it. Is there a final inspection? Think in terms of "It doesn't say Haines until I say it says Haines". Who is your "inspector 14" and how is that process carried out? How do you control your shipping? Is there a designated area for storage awaiting shipping? Who checks that it has been approved for shipping. How does the paperwork meet up with the product? How do you ensure "on-time" delivery? What controlled conditions do you follow if there is any after-delivery activity? What if the customer rejects the material? What if there is a field failure or possibly service needs?

I don't feel logs are evidence of a controlled condition in themselves, however they could serve as documentation that the control is being followed.

I hope this helps some.

a little older a little smarter?

Ok, Dave thaks I think that I have an better idea here of what's going on-
the spec is asking: how do you make sure that when something comes in, it's the right thing from start to finish and if it isn't the right thing can i find it (in the shop or in Santa Fe) If this is it i think I got it down.

Think Reusable Containers

What the standard means is that you are not done after Final Inspection and test. You must protect the product while it sits in your warehouse, the customer's warehouse, and even then you might not be finished.

Many Customers require reusable packaging. You put 10 pieces in a cradle box. You ship the pieces and box to the Customer. After the Customer uses the pieces they return the cradle box. You put 10 more pieces in the cradle box.

You will need logistics for tracking, managing, maintaining, and shipping all your parts and all those boxes.
