Hello folks,

What kind of changes have you made in the APQP process for meeting TS2 requirements? How have you folks addressed manufacturing process design input and output requirements.

Essentially there is no need to change anything except for specific customer requirements.
The inputs and outputs for manufacturing process should have been treated before as part of your system.
The only real difference is the requiremnt to document specific areas such as design reviews- in the past you perfcormed these with out describing then as such. Now you need to define various milestones as points for DR and then document them.

How have we addressed process design? Poorly, extremely poorly.

We still do not apply the rigor of sound project management (aka APQP) to new or modified manufacturing processes. And it costs us big time. I'm working on it, but it's hard in the fire fighting, gun, slinging, hurley burley, Type A, World of manufacturing to get people to think (even a little) before they act.

Instead of PDCA its ARRRRRRGH (Act, React (when the customer calls to complain), React again (first quick fix didn't work), React Again....Go Home, repeat tomorrow and every day until retirement).
