It depends upon the substance/statement of your mission and vision statement since there’s no specified requirement for mission-vision.
If your vision is “It can’t be done” and your mission is “Coulda, Woulda, Shoulda”.....
you’ll surely wind up on the losing end...

One of the problems with the phrase "Quality Policy" is that in a lot of cases the workers do not know what QP means and when auditing one has to spend a lot of time trying to understand if they know what "the company wants"

Yes, exactly. If the organisation is dealing with many customers who expect them to have a thing called 'Quality Policy', then there's some argument for staying with that term. But otherwise, I'd always advise them to come up with a term that sits comfortably and means something to them.

It isn't (to me) just a 'tick the box' exercise, but one I think there can be value in thinking about. For example I personally absolutely hate the term 'Mission' - it just sounds rather grandiose, has religious overtones that usually aren't a good fit in a corporate world, and to me is plain silly. But some people like it.

Here's some I found with a quick search - Our Purpose and What We Stand For seemed strongly represented, but that may be the words/phrases I was using to search on. I'm not advocating any of the following, but they did give me some kind of 'flavour' of the organisation.

• Our Purpose
  
• Our Purpose
  
• Our Corporate Objective
  
• Our Dominant Thought
• What we stand for and this one
• Our Philosophy or another take on the 'Philosophy'

(Then I did a search on 'Quality Policy'. And found a whole lot of rather lifeless all pretty much the same statements... )

The Vision and Mission I am talking here is not the one created for the purpose of complying with some requirements, on the other hand, it is the spontaneous mind of the Owner, Promoter or maximum stake holder or whoever it is, in seeing his Business reach a distance over a period of time. That's why, anybody with a basic Business motive must be possessing a Vision and a Mission for his Business, even if it is not documented. I welcome your feedback.

Anybody with a Business Motive is doing it for the money or for whatever other material gain there may be, everything else is garbage.

If you are implementing a Quality Management System based upon ISO 9001 and if you are going to seek a 3rd party certification from a reputable and recognized accredited certification body you need to know this as an absolute....This

, isn't really relevant for the requirements you have to meet.

You absolutely must have a controlled, documented Quality Policy, Satement Vison, Cabbage or Wonker Promise or whatever you want to call it that meets the basic requirements of stating that you promise;
to identify customer and/or other applicable or appropriate requirements, establish quality related objectives, and
to improve on a continual basis.

That's it! This is the simplist part of the whole thing and it doesn't take a PhD in Quality, a committee of experts, risk assessment, or lifetime of conversation to make it happen.

You're taking the easiest thing there is to do and overcomplicating it.....call it whatever you want and move on.

Ah, now I see what you mean, and agree with what you say to some extent but disagree on the names you use. My company doesn't have - and will never have! - anything with the term 'Mission'. Nor a "Vision" either (that's what I see when I've had rather too much to drink and it's too late at night). But my company does have a purpose and some explicit values that I use.

Sorry, Randy, but I disagree. Sure, the money is important - it's impossible to function without it, but other things are important to me also. The freedom to be my own boss, run my own business, choose my own clients and chart my own course my own way. (At times I made more money working for someone else, and with fewer responsibilities, but not with the things I've listed.)
