ANAB and RvA Rosetta Stone - Requirements in Clear and Unambiguous Language

I am a certification engineer who has been given the responsibility to be a subject matter expert on two organizations: 1) ANAB and 2) RvA. In essence, I am attempting to insure my Registrar (employer) complies with requirements mandated by the aforementioned accreditation bodies. I would appreciate any advice regarding this endeavor. Additionally, the requirements published by these organizations are difficult to follow, thus is there any document(s) which details the rules in clear and unambiguous language which are easy to understand.

If you are not familiar with the accredited certification process, you have a serious challenge in your hands. The body of knowledge for anyone to be deemed a subject matter expert is vast and very complex. Some of the documents you would have to be very familiar with include:

  • ISO 17011
  • ISO 17021
  • ISO 9001 (some CB's are supposed to comply with it)
  • ISO 19011
  • The IAF Mandatory Documents
  • Depending on the Industry Schemes, there are a bunch of associated documents. For example, in Aerospace, we have AS9104, 9104-2 and 9104-3, AS9014.
  • Each accreditation body have their own specific set of requirements, such as ANAB's accreditation rules.
  • etc...
